Synopsis

Marcus Lycinius is in love with a young girl, Livia. His jealous mistress finds out that Livia is a Christian and has her arrested. Marcus tries to make her renounce her faith but she converts him and they go to martyrdom together. Marcus Lycinius, a cruel patrician, nurses an unrequited passion for Livia, a young girl. His jealous mistress follows Livia on the way to the Catacombs and discovers that she is a Christian. She hastens to Marcus with the news and he takes his revenge on Livia by denouncing her to the Prefect. The Catacombs are searched and Livia and her fellow Christians taken prisoner. Marcus goes to her prison to persuade her to renounce her faith, but her steadfastness and the appearance of an angelic vision persuade him, on the contrary, to accept Christianity, and he and Livia go to martyrdom together (1009ft). Note: This film was previously catalogued under the incorrect title MARCUS LYCINIOUS (sic - the title on the film). Correct identification by Aldo Bernardini, confirmed at the DOMITOR screenings, March 1989. English intertitles. (Shotlist)
