Synopsis

The slave and daughter of a centurion become Christians in Rome. Main title and credits (13). The slaves of the centurion Vicinius attend to their duties. They prepare themselves for his arrival. The daughter of Vicinius is in love with a slave and they meet later. However, the slave must leave for another destination, which he keeps a secret. The daughter follows him and comes upon a Christian meeting led by St. Peter(?) and attended by the slave. Later the slaves are at work but no-one can find the Christian slave. The centurion demands to know where he is and why he is not attending to his duties. When found, the centurion orders him to be whipped, despite pleas for mercy from his daughter. The slave is taken off by the soldiers and whipped by the slave-master. After the beating the other slaves try to help him but they too are beaten by the slave-master. The slave is left for dead. The daughter comes to his aid and takes him to the caves where she saw St. Peter preaching. There she meets St. Peter and with the help of her lover is accepted into the Christian faith and baptised. At the house the centurion receives a message from the emperor ordering the arrest of the Christians, he orders his troops into action.
